Great TV at this price point
I have had this TV now for around a month. At the the time of ordering there wasn't too many reviews of this TV but decided to take a gamble anyway and went for it. Opening it up and setting it on the swivel stand provided was all very simple and required only a x-drive screwdriver. The TV is very stylish and elegantly designed with the sub-inch bezel making it seem almost as though the screen goes right to the edge. The piano key black looks great too, although dust and fingerprints do show up easily. The screen is like glass, not matt like LCDs so reflections might be a problem on dark scenes in your particular room but I have to say that it's not been much of a problem for me and the swivel stand makes it easy to find an angle to overcome this, as well as allowing easy access to the connections on the side and rear. I was a little disappointed by the picture to start with, particularly the colour reproduction, but then used the Picture Wizard feature to set it up and have to say that there was a massive improvement - as such, all the following comments on picture quality are for after I'd set it up. I'm sure with a professionals touch, the fine tuning could go on and on and on but for me, the Picture Wizard was enough. So, the picture quality on SD is as good as any other TV (my viewing distance is around 9 or 10ft) and I can't say I noticed any difference in HD between this and my father's 42LH7700 which is Full HD (1080p) as opposed to this one being HD Ready (720p) but then I am just the average viewer - I'm sure a true TV geek would be able to point them out. The Xbox360 looks great over HDMI, as does my PC and upscaling DVD player. At distances of 4ft or less the image starts to look a little 'grainy' but I understand that this is something akin to all plasmas(?) and I never sit that close anyway. There are some complaints about a loud buzzing being heard from the set. Granted, there is an audible hum, but only when the set is muted and you're stood next to it - any kind of normal viewing and with the volume even down low, and you're not going to notice this, and you certainly wont with the volume on the surround sound cranked up while watching generic action film! My only niggles with this TV come from the connectivity. There are only two HDMI connections which for most would be fine but if you have a Sky+HD box, an Xbox360, an upscaling DVD player and a PC and you want to have all of them going over HDMI to get the best image quality you will need a seperate switcher as in my case. I could hook the PC up to the VGA and the Xbox360 to the components but I don't want to. And secondly, there is a USB port on the side but you can't for instance, plug in a USB pen or external HDD to view videos, only pictures or to play music. I did a bit of digging on this though and it seems that this model sold in other countries does have video enabled but is disable for Europe, probably to sway customers to a TV at a higher price point. Although this is a bind, it does mean that the TV could play video were somebody to find a way to get into the service menu and enable it, so will only be a matter of time. Not that I am endorsing this behaviour - it can also ruin TVs and is not advisable!

So in summary;

Great TV for the price once calibrated, which is a doddle.
No real great difference between this TV and those Full HD plasmas at twice the price.
Would have been nice to have an extra HDMI input.
Shame video is not an option without fiddling and voiding warranty etc.

For those of you who are unsure, 'Ugg' boots originate from Australia and are made from sheepskin. UGG (in capitals) are a brand name for Ugg boots, as are Emu, Ugs&Kisses, Love from Australia, SN'UGGS etc...

I already own a pair of UGGs and love them but can't afford to spend that much on another pair so I looked at other brands. These Emu Stinger boots are perfect and comparable to UGGS in every way. The quality is the same and they look identical. If anything, I would actually say the soles on Emus are better than the soles on UGGs.

With regards to sizing, I am a UK6 and wear a UK5 in UGGs as they are made in US sizes and they are not converted to exact UK sizes. I ordered UK6 in these Stinger boots and they do fit although I am tempted to try a 5 as I know they will stretch. (Im not sure why people have said they are small sizes, I haven't found this to be the case at all). So my advice would be to order your own size. If you are half size I would be tempted to go down a size otherwise you will find that they feel loose once they have stretched to your foot size. These are definitely better quality than Emu's Bronte and Chalet style boots.

PS. Would also like to add, they are quite wide fitting so if you have narrow feet you may find them a bit loose.

I don't think I've ever been so excited about a deliverey from Amazon, as when my emu boots arrived today! I ordered the stinger hi boots in the chestnut colour. I prefer the stinger hi boots to the stinger lo boots, as they provide extra warmth by being higher up the leg. I'm normally between a size 7 and 8 and had previously tried a 7 on in the shops and found my toes were right at the end. I therefore ordered the 8s, as I had read that your toes are not to be right at the end of the boot. I was right to order the next size up as there is enough space for my toes, but the wool holds my foot in place.

At first when I took them out of the box I was anxious at how big they looked, but don't be fooled at all, as the wool lining takes up at a lot of space inside the boot. Over time I think that the wool lining will eventually pad down. Once I had them on they dont look as big as when they are just out of the box. The top of the boot reaches about half way up my calf, from the sole to the top of the boot they measure at 13.5", which is great for me as I've long legs.

They are made to a very high standard. They are well stitched, with some of the wool lining in between, so they may be white wool within the stitches. I guess this will vary from boot to boot. The suede is wonderfully soft and flexible allowing me to walk normally instead of "goose stepping". I love the chestnut colour as it goes brilliantly with denim, black and even shades of brown. It's very versatile.

Wearing them definately lives up to my expectations - they are incredibly comfortable and snuggly! They are easy to pull on and off and given their size hardly weigh anything at all. You can wear them without socks as this helps to regulate the temperature of the foot, but even with socks my feet have been lovely and warm, but not too hot. For me the advantage of these boots are the reinforced heel. They hold my foot inside the boot better than UGG boots and I think Im going to be less likely to develop an inside step with these. These are a pair of boots that will not rub because of the lining and that has to be a bonus!

The EMU logo on on the heel is discretely stitched on the back and matches the colour of the boot. And at the top of the boot is a small rubber EMU logo, again very discrete. The soles of the boot appear very sturdy and will last a long time, the EMU logo is raised off the sole of the boot increasing the grip between the boot and ground, so I will be confident enough to wear them when icy.

I've tried them with my jeans tucked in and they look great, I'm going to have to invest in a skinny pair of jeans as I see lots of women with these style boots wear them with skinny jeans. They look great rolled all the way up, as well as having the tops turned over to reveal a wool cuff. However, I have dug out my denim mini skirt which I thought I wouldn't see till next summer and the boots go well with the skirt and tights.

I'm going to buy some suede protector so that they wont stain as easily. Darker boots will be less likely to show any stains, but the chestnut probably will if they get soaked. Personally I'm only planning on wearing them on drier days....not really made for snow I dont think!

Overall I thrilled with my EMU boots and I love showing them off. They are well worth the money, are a lot cheaper than UGGs, whilst practically being identical to UGG boots except for the heel logo. I love them and see them as an investment as they've obviously been made to last. I cannot wait for some proper winter weather to put them to the test! Go and treat your feet to some EMUs!
