Should We Buy a 3D TV?

3D TV is finally here and companies and TV stations have already started producing films and programs for broadcasting in this exciting new technology. The release of the 3D TV technology, however, is not yet widely known amongst all. Just as we are digesting the release of high definition TV, television manufacturers invade the shelves with a new technology: 3D is riding on the success of films like "Avatar". Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, LG and Philips have had 3D TV models released that are capable of broadcasting images in 3D TV. Sharp and Toshiba will launch later in the year. 3D TVs are expected to represent 10-15% of sales this year.

There are many questions that need to be answered and many people are still wandering if 3D TV is worth investing in. From the initial impressions, 3D TV looks to give some stunning results. But the programs remain rare and programs for the platform are not yet widely available. So should we rush to buy 3D TV? Lets learn a bit more and address some of the common questions.

Is the 3D technology really developed?

Yes, because it has been around for years. For the case of understanding in simple terms, 3D images are filmed by two different cameras, one for the right eye and one for the left eye. During their broadcasting on screen, the brain assembles the two pieces of information together into one to form complete 3D images. When watching 3D TV, the viewer really develops a feeling of being immersed in the action.

Should the viewer use 3D glasses?

For the time being, yes. All manufacturers are supplying 3D glasses that are meant to be used to watch the TV. But the spectacles are heavy and moreover inconsistent from one brand to another. Toshiba, Sharp and Hitachi showed prototypes of 3D screens without glasses, but have not yet announced a release date.

What programs can we watch in 3D?

For the moment, there is not much. The UK satellite TV supplier Sky has started broadcasting some channels for 3D, but this is relatively small in the scheme of things. The channel broadcasted key football games throughout the world cup and continues to add more programming for 3D but we will need to wait a little longer before the mainstream channels are broadcasted in 3D.

Can we keep our old DVDs and video games?

Yes. 3D TVs are also capable of broadcasting images in 2D, so you don't have to worry whether they will accept your current collection of movies and games. Conversely, to watch the new Blu-ray topography, you need to buy a suitable reader, because the first generation devices do not read them. Same thing applies to consoles. The first 3D video games are not expected before the end of the year and only Sony has so far announced an update of its PS3 console this summer to allow users to play 3D games.

Should we fear adverse effects on health?

As going to the cinema, it is not unusual to experience fatigue, and even a headache when watching 3D. The brain is having to reconstruct the stereoscopic images and it can be stressful in the long run, especially if the scenes are very choppy. Also note that 5-10% of people suffer from "stereo blindness": they do not perceive the depth of images, even when wearing 3D glasses. In other words, they will not see the difference between a conventional TV and a 3D screen. It is therefore advisable to test the process in-store before purchase

Buying a TV - 4 Tips

Television sets have come down a lot in price over the last few years, and it seems that they are sold almost everywhere, from supermarkets to department stores and specialist electrical goods retailers. Paying extra does not always guarantee you a better product though, and here we look at the key features to look for when buying your next television set.

Digital or Analogue

Make sure that the television set you choose receives digital broadcasts, as analogue broadcasts are being phased out. Although every television set in an electrical store will be 'digital ready', older analogue sets may be being sold at reduced prices in some discount outlets. Do not be tempted into purchasing one, otherwise it will be useless to you in the near future.

Television Size

Bigger is not always better! Although many of us love the idea of purchasing a brand new 48-inch plasma TV, a little more thought should go into the practicalities of this. Consider the following:

o How big is the room that you plan to put the TV in? A large set will not only look out of place in a small room, it may also make for uncomfortable viewing if you are sitting close up to it.

o How much space do you have? Measure the available space before making your purchase, and allow at least two inches on either side for cables, ventilation and easy removal.

Picture Quality

Picture quality is of paramount importance. This is affected by many things, such as the flatness of the screen and progressive scan capabilities, but the best test is to simply see the television in operation before you purchase it. This is easy in an electrical store, but not always possible in a supermarket.

Audio Capabilities

As well as the picture, focus on the sound. This is especially important if you plan to connect the TV to your stereo and home theatre system. Check that there is a suitable amount of AV input and output sockets, and where these are positioned. Make sure that they are easy to access and will fit in with your existing setup.

The above points are the main ones to consider, but do not forget to check the following:

o Does the TV come with a remote control?
o Does it come with a warranty?
o Will it fit in your car?! (or does the store deliver?)

Buying a TV - When is the Best Time?

With so many television brands flooding the market, it is difficult to make the right choice to buy your desired television. Moreover, new models are making it to the market everyday. In fact, each year in the late summer and the early fall, new TV models make their way to the stores.

The best time to buy LCD and Plasma TVs

The general rule is that prices of LCD and Plasma TVs start dropping as their sizes keep increasing. Most of the viewers buy plasma or big-screen TV in the time of Super Bowl. However, according to consumer analysts, buyers should wait for sometime after a new model hits the market before buying. You should wait for six to twelve months before you buy HDTV or LCD TV, after a particular model has been launched because most Japanese manufacturers end their fiscal year in the month of March and the new models are launched after March. A few months after the launch, the price drops in the market. If you can wait for a year to buy a particular model then you are guaranteed to get the best technology for dirt-cheap rates.

Which are the cheapest TVs

The good old-fashioned CRTs are the cheapest TVs available. They come in all sizes and in all budgets. Standard picture tube TVs are becoming smarter in their looks everyday and if you were watching the TV from six feet distance then you would spot no difference between CRT and HD TV. Moreover, you get all sorts of discounts and buy back offers on these TVs throughout the year.

Do I really need 1080p

The fad for all TV sets this year is 1080p. However, most of these sets are taking a 1080i signal and then up converting it to 1080p but the connection of the sets do not originally support 1080p/60 input. Though this year, sets with 1080p/60 input are coming out, it is better that you do all the background work before going for your best future proof TV.

It appears quite impractical to upgrade your HDTV for the best picture in coming 2 to 8 years. However, if you are willing to buy a TV now then go for the sets, which have 1080p/60 inputs because buying a television is an investment.

Great TV at this price point4
I have had this TV now for around a month. At the the time of ordering there wasn't too many reviews of this TV but decided to take a gamble anyway and went for it. Opening it up and setting it on the swivel stand provided was all very simple and required only a x-drive screwdriver. The TV is very stylish and elegantly designed with the sub-inch bezel making it seem almost as though the screen goes right to the edge. The piano key black looks great too, although dust and fingerprints do show up easily. The screen is like glass, not matt like LCDs so reflections might be a problem on dark scenes in your particular room but I have to say that it's not been much of a problem for me and the swivel stand makes it easy to find an angle to overcome this, as well as allowing easy access to the connections on the side and rear. I was a little disappointed by the picture to start with, particularly the colour reproduction, but then used the Picture Wizard feature to set it up and have to say that there was a massive improvement - as such, all the following comments on picture quality are for after I'd set it up. I'm sure with a professionals touch, the fine tuning could go on and on and on but for me, the Picture Wizard was enough. So, the picture quality on SD is as good as any other TV (my viewing distance is around 9 or 10ft) and I can't say I noticed any difference in HD between this and my father's 42LH7700 which is Full HD (1080p) as opposed to this one being HD Ready (720p) but then I am just the average viewer - I'm sure a true TV geek would be able to point them out. The Xbox360 looks great over HDMI, as does my PC and upscaling DVD player. At distances of 4ft or less the image starts to look a little 'grainy' but I understand that this is something akin to all plasmas(?) and I never sit that close anyway. There are some complaints about a loud buzzing being heard from the set. Granted, there is an audible hum, but only when the set is muted and you're stood next to it - any kind of normal viewing and with the volume even down low, and you're not going to notice this, and you certainly wont with the volume on the surround sound cranked up while watching generic action film! My only niggles with this TV come from the connectivity. There are only two HDMI connections which for most would be fine but if you have a Sky+HD box, an Xbox360, an upscaling DVD player and a PC and you want to have all of them going over HDMI to get the best image quality you will need a seperate switcher as in my case. I could hook the PC up to the VGA and the Xbox360 to the components but I don't want to. And secondly, there is a USB port on the side but you can't for instance, plug in a USB pen or external HDD to view videos, only pictures or to play music. I did a bit of digging on this though and it seems that this model sold in other countries does have video enabled but is disable for Europe, probably to sway customers to a TV at a higher price point. Although this is a bind, it does mean that the TV could play video were somebody to find a way to get into the service menu and enable it, so will only be a matter of time. Not that I am endorsing this behaviour - it can also ruin TVs and is not advisable!

So in summary;

Great TV for the price once calibrated, which is a doddle.
No real great difference between this TV and those Full HD plasmas at twice the price.
Would have been nice to have an extra HDMI input.
Shame video is not an option without fiddling and voiding warranty etc.

UGG vs EMU5
For those of you who are unsure, 'Ugg' boots originate from Australia and are made from sheepskin. UGG (in capitals) are a brand name for Ugg boots, as are Emu, Ugs&Kisses, Love from Australia, SN'UGGS etc...

I already own a pair of UGGs and love them but can't afford to spend that much on another pair so I looked at other brands. These Emu Stinger boots are perfect and comparable to UGGS in every way. The quality is the same and they look identical. If anything, I would actually say the soles on Emus are better than the soles on UGGs.

With regards to sizing, I am a UK6 and wear a UK5 in UGGs as they are made in US sizes and they are not converted to exact UK sizes. I ordered UK6 in these Stinger boots and they do fit although I am tempted to try a 5 as I know they will stretch. (Im not sure why people have said they are small sizes, I haven't found this to be the case at all). So my advice would be to order your own size. If you are half size I would be tempted to go down a size otherwise you will find that they feel loose once they have stretched to your foot size. These are definitely better quality than Emu's Bronte and Chalet style boots.

PS. Would also like to add, they are quite wide fitting so if you have narrow feet you may find them a bit loose.

Roll on winter!5
I don't think I've ever been so excited about a deliverey from Amazon, as when my emu boots arrived today! I ordered the stinger hi boots in the chestnut colour. I prefer the stinger hi boots to the stinger lo boots, as they provide extra warmth by being higher up the leg. I'm normally between a size 7 and 8 and had previously tried a 7 on in the shops and found my toes were right at the end. I therefore ordered the 8s, as I had read that your toes are not to be right at the end of the boot. I was right to order the next size up as there is enough space for my toes, but the wool holds my foot in place.

At first when I took them out of the box I was anxious at how big they looked, but don't be fooled at all, as the wool lining takes up at a lot of space inside the boot. Over time I think that the wool lining will eventually pad down. Once I had them on they dont look as big as when they are just out of the box. The top of the boot reaches about half way up my calf, from the sole to the top of the boot they measure at 13.5", which is great for me as I've long legs.

They are made to a very high standard. They are well stitched, with some of the wool lining in between, so they may be white wool within the stitches. I guess this will vary from boot to boot. The suede is wonderfully soft and flexible allowing me to walk normally instead of "goose stepping". I love the chestnut colour as it goes brilliantly with denim, black and even shades of brown. It's very versatile.

Wearing them definately lives up to my expectations - they are incredibly comfortable and snuggly! They are easy to pull on and off and given their size hardly weigh anything at all. You can wear them without socks as this helps to regulate the temperature of the foot, but even with socks my feet have been lovely and warm, but not too hot. For me the advantage of these boots are the reinforced heel. They hold my foot inside the boot better than UGG boots and I think Im going to be less likely to develop an inside step with these. These are a pair of boots that will not rub because of the lining and that has to be a bonus!

The EMU logo on on the heel is discretely stitched on the back and matches the colour of the boot. And at the top of the boot is a small rubber EMU logo, again very discrete. The soles of the boot appear very sturdy and will last a long time, the EMU logo is raised off the sole of the boot increasing the grip between the boot and ground, so I will be confident enough to wear them when icy.

I've tried them with my jeans tucked in and they look great, I'm going to have to invest in a skinny pair of jeans as I see lots of women with these style boots wear them with skinny jeans. They look great rolled all the way up, as well as having the tops turned over to reveal a wool cuff. However, I have dug out my denim mini skirt which I thought I wouldn't see till next summer and the boots go well with the skirt and tights.

I'm going to buy some suede protector so that they wont stain as easily. Darker boots will be less likely to show any stains, but the chestnut probably will if they get soaked. Personally I'm only planning on wearing them on drier days....not really made for snow I dont think!

Overall I thrilled with my EMU boots and I love showing them off. They are well worth the money, are a lot cheaper than UGGs, whilst practically being identical to UGG boots except for the heel logo. I love them and see them as an investment as they've obviously been made to last. I cannot wait for some proper winter weather to put them to the test! Go and treat your feet to some EMUs!

Toshiba 32RV635 Review

With Toshiba setting a good pace with their LCD Televisions, their unveiling of their new models most always sets high expectations, and this is no different with what they released for the year 2009. And lately, with more people leaning towards LCD TVs, the demand for entry level models have increased and major brands like Toshiba have seen this clamour and have come out with their own lines to satisfy this clamour. Leading the pack for the 2009 model for the entry level series is the Toshiba 32RV635.

The base level Toshiba 32RV635 is a 32 inch widescreen LCD TV with an aspect ratio of 16:9 with a 1920x1080p and 1080p resolution capability, but because it is an entry level, it is stripped off of some of the features and options mainly found in higher end Toshiba LCD TVs, like the true 24p support. For many regular consumes, the 24p feature may not be as important as this feature cannot even be used if you don't have a high definition player that allows support for it, like a Blu-ray player, so this is something that most people can live without.

Design wise, the Toshiba 32RV635 would easily be an LCD TV with a tacky design for those who have not seen it yet considering its highly lowered price, but surprisingly, both its looks and its build connotes heavily on luxury and sophistication. Its simplistic and conventional style finished off with a piano black finish exudes an everlasting fashionable feel. And with its heavy duty plastic material, you get a feel that this Toshiba TV is very solid and sturdy. All in all, it is a design and finish that makes you think about big money. And for people who wish to save up on energy, the Toshiba 32RV635 and the rest of the models in the RV series has a hard power switch located on the side for a complete shutdown for prolonged non use.

And for those who have a ton of electronic gadgets, the Toshiba 32RV635 offers a multitude of input and output connections at the back and to its side. And unlike other entry level HD LCD TVs, the Toshiba offers 4 HDMI ports which you can simultaneously connect a variety of HD video sources, like a Blu-ray player, a gaming console, HD DVD,, and even an HD camera. Other ports available include 2 SCARTs, an S-Video, composite and component video, headphone jack, RF in, D-Sub, Common Interface, and Digital Audio out. There is also a USB port where you will be able to play your digital files.

For an LCD TV with a Toshiba name branded on it, it's quite difficult to understand how they are able to do this; the High Definition output alone is enough to jack the prices up. Plus, with so little motion blurring, and an above average sound, you may completely mistake it for a higher end LCD TV, especially, with the way it looks whether hanging on the wall, or set on a flat surface.

Overall, the Toshiba 32RV635 is a fantastic bargain. You get all you would want for in a budget LCD TV and so much more. And with the Toshiba technology, you are assured of top quality performance all the time.

LG 32LD690 Review

The LG 32LD690 is a 32-incher LCD television that combines stunning looks and superb performance. Within its narrow frame designing and slim 73.8 mm depth are features that change the way you have entertainment at home. Watch HD telecasts, surf the net, share your holiday snapshots and more with this LG stunner.

Its spacious display panel can put on show images with resolutions of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Needless to say, the more pixels your eyes can feast on, the better the image quality. Standard televisions usually give just over 400,000 pixels. But the full HD LG 32LD690 can give over 2,000,000 pixels. It's not surprising why the details and colors experienced are true to life.

A contrast ratio of 70,000:1 ensures that the richness of blacks and brilliance of whites are kept intact. Also, such impressive contrast ratio helps in the proper displaying of a wider range of colors. Then there's also the TruMotion 100Hz on the LG 32LD690 to help get rid of motion blurs, commonly encountered during playback of fast-moving scenes. Now blurring need not get in the way of your enjoyment of sports shows, action-packed movies and video games.

Up to 100 frames are displayed per second - that's double the frame rate used by standard definition television. With this much frames packed in a second, movements of images on the LG 32LD690 display panel become smoother and more natural. A response time of 0.001 ms significantly reduces eyestrain-inducing flickers and judders.

Pick up additional channels and shows on the LG 32LD690 transmitted via satellite broadcasting. And you get to do so without worrying about extra monthly fees. That's because this LCD television comes fitted with Freeview HD. It lets you have 5 times the image quality produced by a standard definition tuner. There's no need to agree to contracts or set up a digital tuner box. Check out if such feature is available in your region.

Even without switching on your PC, you can browse the internet on this LG 32LD690 television. Simply hook it up to a high-speed web connection through the inbuilt Ethernet port. Or you may also purchase a Wi-Fi USB dongle to surf without cluttering your living space with wires. You can access photos, stream videos, do video conferences, read news and many others. All this is made possible by the innovative NetCast technology.

Use the LG 32LD690 for your entertainment as you see fit. Connect a video gaming console, DVD player, and other HD components as you like. This LCD television offers you broad connectivity by means of 3 integrated HDMI ports. It's through HDMI connection that high-definition signals are transferred among devices without affecting data quality.

Other than HDMI, you may also share information stored in other devices through DLNA connectivity. Through this option, it's easy to link to this LG 32LD690 LCD television devices like a laptop or a cellular phone. There's also a USB 2.0 port fitted on the television. By plugging in USB-enabled devices like a digital camera, flash drive, music player and others, you can easily share file contents. Play back JPEG photos, MP3 music tracks and DivX videos on the LG.

Do review the LG 32LD690 if you're looking for a new TV.

The LG 42LD450 LCD TV

The LG 42LD450 widescreen LCD TV is one of the most popular televisions sold in the UK. Some of the reasons for this is that, not only is it a full HD 1080p television but it also includes Freeview circuitry which provides a large collection of free to view channels.

Having Freeview built into the LG 42LD450 also eliminates the need for an unsightly box of electronics with numerous trailing wires stuffed behind the television.

The reasonable price of this television makes it affordable to many families and yet the screen resolution of 1920 x 1080p produces excellent image clarity. A 1080p television really ads to the enjoyment of high definition games and shows blu-ray movies at their best.

Naturally the LG 42LD450 LCD TV has all the options required to be connected to other devices. It boasts 2 HDMI inputs for games consoles or a blu-ray player and also a USB socket to all the TV to display your own photographs. It even includes a MP3 player for your music collection.

Something often overlooked is the power efficiency. The LG 42LD450 is designed for long term use and also has special circuitry to reduce the power consumption therefore saving you money on your monthly electricity bill.

When you take a look at LG 42LD450 is is not just the vivid colors and breathtaking display quality that is important for viewing pleasure. Sound quality is of vital importance and this LCD TV's built in speakers produce clear sound thanks to the Clear Voice system.

This circuitry amplifies the frequencies used for speech helping it to be more distinct when there is a lot of background noise. Having this feature keeps the spoken dialogue audible during loud movies when the background noise levels increase.

If you are seeking a brand new television and are not very certain what type to purchase, consider this one. For a more in depth report visit LG 42LD450 Reviews at http://42ld450tv.co.uk

LG 32LH3000 32" LCD TV Review

LG is known for manufacturing great electronics. The precise engineering of their products, coupled with chic design and spot on pricing have made this company a remarkable success. LG LCD TVs are laden with a hoard of features and the company's strategy has always been to market its products on the kind of value they provide.

When we first decided to review the LG 32LH3000 32" LCD TV, we were sceptical about the performance because LG has not been the best when it comes to entry level LCD TVs. LG is renowned for producing state of art high end LCD TVs, but if lags in the entry segment. This TV, however, was packed with a lot of surprises and has definitely won our vote.

The first thing that strikes when you look at this TV is the stunning picture quality. The video is blu-ray quality and the 1080p picture ensures that it stays that way! Supplied with three HDMI ports, the TV is well built and the overall design of the TV is appealing nonetheless. The buttons are situated at the back of the TV and the company has done its bit to ensure that the LG 32LH3000 32" TV comes out as a neatly finished product.

The speakers are designed by Mark Levinson- the famous acoustics expert, and are hidden. Though there is nothing great about them, but they are decent and their "invisibility" factor does add a punch to the TV. The TV is liberally supplied with almost all the external ports that one might require. From HDMI ports to PC connectivity port, a VGA port and a Common Interface slot to USB, SCART and RGB ports- the LG 32LH3000 32" LCD TV has just about everything a video buff could aspire for.

The USB port, however, does entail a drawback- it can only be used for service upgrades and not for plug and play devices. Apart from this single drawback, the TV is priced competitively and is all set to give the bigger players a run for their money- thanks to some great work by LG.

Garmin Nuvi 255W Widescreen Satellite Navigation System with Full EU Mapping

Garmin Nuvi 255W Widescreen Satellite Navigation System with Full EU Mapping Review

Garmin Nuvi 255W Widescreen Satellite Navigation System with Full EU Mapping

Excellent gadget!4
Great little unit. I purchased and used only last week after comparing Tom Tom One XL and the Nuvi 255W for several weeks. Nuvi had much more extensive maps and that was really the thing that swung it for me. I was in France and Belgium last week and the Nuvi took me directly to the front door of my navigation points. I also travel to Poland quite a bit and as I can't speak Polish it will help me find the right streets.

Before I purchased I read a lot of people saying that it takes ages to find satellites, which concerned me. When turned on, it does take a couple of minutes as part of the normal start up process, but this not a problem as I just turn it on whilst I walk to my car and it is ready when I reach the car. The unit doesnt get a signal indoors however (can't think why one would be neededed anyway), as it needs pretty clear site of the sky.

Pro's
-Easy to use
-Extensive maps, including Eastern Europe
-Quick recalculation when you miss a turn
-Much cheaper compared to Tom Tom with equivalent maps
-Can add your own Point of Interests (POI's). Loads of sites where these can be downloaded for free
-You can point and drag the map and then navigate to a different point
-Extra features, calculator, convertor etc are very good.

Cons
-No case
-In pedestrian mode the unit can be confusing as it isn't sure which direction you are going for a while. This can be a little frustrating
-Some Tom Tom features such as simulation mode are more elegant
-No case included

All in all great little unit and I would definitely recommend over the Tom Tom XL!

Garmin Forerunner 305 Wrist-Worn GPS Personal Training Device with Heart Rate Monitor

Garmin Forerunner 305 Wrist-Worn GPS Personal Training Device with Heart Rate Monitor Review

Garmin Forerunner 305 Wrist-Worn GPS Personal Training Device with Heart Rate Monitor

Seriously good gadget for serious athletes5
OK, first looks - you are thinking to yourself "But what if someone tries to land a helicopter on it's enormous surface while I am out running?!"

Well, don't worry about it. Yes it looks bulky but when you are out running you never notice the size and it's easy to appreciate the highly configurable and easy to read display. This device is all about options. I choose to run with the four following items all simultaneously displayed:
Heart Rate, Elapsed running time, Average pace in km/h and Total Distance

I can of course choose to see other bits of information and have the screens changing at intervals I determine but part of the joy of running is getting away from it all and looking where you are going! The device just works, capturing all that lovely information about your heart, what kinds of slopes you are running on, how far you are travelling.

I once got lost in some big woods near where I live, then I simply turned the watch into navigation mode and was able to trace my way back through the forest to where I started from - absolutely brilliant gadget.

The real fun with the Forerunner comes when you get to analyze the data. The software provided with the watch is very basic. Most people I know download the excellent Sport Tracks software which is freeware from Zone 5 Software. To use this software you also need to have installed on your Windows PC a version of .NET from Microsoft (this is just some extra software for the Operating System to allow programs written in a certain way to run - again, it's a free download from Microsoft).

Now you can amaze your friends and family about how far you run, how fast you go, how big the hills are you are running up, amaze them with how many calories you've burnt off. All in lovely printed graphical format. But whatever you do, don't wear your watch out when you go down to the pub - for one, the battery (rechargeable from your PC) only lasts for 10 hours, but you might just have someone trying to land a helicopter on it!! This watch is cool for running, but nothing else.

These sorts of gadgets used to sell in Europe for about 400 but now that Garmin have brought out a new model with a fancy iPod wannabee interface (who cares - I never really touch the thing when I am out running, apart from the start/stop button), the price has dropped dramatically. For those of you like me who live in mainland Europe, the power supply has got switchable components so you can use the plug in different sockets. These days, I consider it to be essential training eqpt and I never run or cycle without it.

UPDATE - had the product for a year now, in fact I have bought a second one for my wife to use with her training. I've started to use the Workout function for my marathon training. You can design your whole training programme, upload it into the watch and then it tells you how fast you have to run and for how long. This is really useful if you are doing interval training for example, run 2Kms fast then ½km slow to recover, repeat 4 times. You get audible alerts if you are too fast or too slow or if your heart rate goes outside of the desired training zone. I've downloaded an entire marathon training schedule from the Runners World website and I just do what the watch tells me. So yes, I'm a raving fan of the Forerunner 305. The only negative point I would make is that the elevation data is not highly accurate but it does give a good impression of the kind of slopes you are running on.

Garmin Nuvi 1340 Satellite Navigation

Garmin Nuvi 1340 Satellite Navigation Review

Garmin Nuvi 1340 Satellite Navigation with UK & Western Europe (22 Countries)

First Sat Nav - No Worries5
This is the first sat nav I have ever bought, but I spent quite a bit of time reading reviews and talking to friends with sat navs.

I've read some negative reviews about the nuvi 1340, but decided to take the plunge and so far - five days in - I haven't been disappointed.

It is very easy to use. The screen is big and clear, the instructions concise and easy to understand. It updates and recalculates routes, when I have pursposefully gone the wrong way, very quickly. There are other useful functions on there, like the points of interest, and the 'where am i' function would be very useful in an emergency. Safety camera alerts are a Godsend.

I appreciate that different people have different expectations, but I'm quite demanding and wouldn't waste my money on a pile of tosh, so I can recommend this sat nav.
