See things differently with HD Ready
Enjoy your favourite TV shows and movies in clear and detailed High Definition quality. This BRAVIA has a resolution of 768 lines (standard TVs commonly display 576 lines) so your picture will be much crisper and display much more true-to-life clarity. As well as having the capacity to display 1080 HD content by downscaling the image to 720, it features innovative technologies such as intelligent noise reduction for sharper, crisper sound and Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) which dynamically controls the backlight.

Subscription-free, built-in Freeview
To add to your viewing choice, the set has a built-in Freeview TV tuner so you have instant access to a huge range of free-to-air and digital TV and radio channels. Channels are free so you won't have any subscription fees or contracts to sign. Because it's all built-in you won't need a set-top box or satellite dish either. Simply plug in your external TV aerial and access all your channels using just one remote control.

Optimise the picture for your surroundings
This BRAVIA model features an innovative power-saving ambient Light Sensor which detects the ambient light in a room and adapts the picture's brightness accordingly. As well as making viewing more comfortable, when the set's light sensor is activated, power consumption can be reduced by a further 30%. This is one of a group of energy-saving Eco-Settings which also includes Power Saving, Idle TV Standby and PC Power Management.

Experience advanced picture quality
Its BRAVIA ENGINE 2 processor delivers astonishingly clear and life-like colours with the most natural tones possible. Black levels are the deepest and most detailed, with a brightness and contrast that's crisp and confident. Reds and greens are notoriously difficult to reproduce on an LCD screen. Live Colour intelligently boosts these colours making sure the images you see on your BRAVIA TV are bright, vibrant and realistic. Connect a compatible camera or camcorder and the TV will automatically switch to optimum settings for displaying photos and reproduce their full, realistic texture and colour.

Connect to your favourite technology
With its USB Media Player, you can connect a wide range of USB devices straight to your BRAVIA TV. From mp3 players to cameras, laptops to camcorders - even content from your USB memory stick, just plug in to enjoy your favourite multimedia files on screen. It's easy to enhance your BRAVIA experience by connecting other HD products such as a Blu-ray Disc™ player or PlayStation®3 thanks to four High Definition Multimedia Interface™ (HDMI™) inputs. These connections are specifically designed to carry high quality digital video and audio content. BRAVIA Sync lets you control other Sony devices you've connected using your BRAVIA TV remote control.

Enjoy authentic cinematic experiences
Cinema Mode is a new picture setting developed in collaboration between BRAVIA and Sony Pictures Entertainment. It allows films to be viewed as close to the original director's cut as possible. Cinema Mode precisely reproduces details such as natural skin tone, lighting, colour and contrast. In 24p True Cinema mode films can be watched as the director intended for the big screen - at 24 frames per second. Standard TVs use 25 frames a second which means they play back 'faster' than they do in the cinema.

Create atmospheric settings
Whether you're watching the big match, the latest movie or playing a high impact game, Scene Select allows you to choose from a list of options to automatically adjust the sound and picture settings to complement the on screen action. If, for any reason, you're struggling to hear what someone's saying, you can activate Clear Voice. Clear Voice automatically boosts voice frequency bands and enhances poor voice quality to clear, crisp, louder dialogue.

Good Small TV4
Feels solid built with a good base that you need to fix with three screws (supplied). The base, with rubber-surfaced feet, has a hole through which a cord can be passed to secure the unit to the stand should there be a toppling possibility (small children / pets).

(This I got after returning Toshiba 19DV665DB TV-DVD player Combo to another online store which had the notorious problem of sound cutting out at the start or whilst watching a programme.)

The oval twin speakers of Sony Bravia KDL22EX302U, positioned underneath, give 5W(RMS) x 2 uninterrupted sound, the quality of which more than equates the size of this 22" TV - it is nowhere near `tinny'. The picture quality is very good and can be manually tweaked, though the same setting may not be consistent across various channels watched, but is not an issue - it probably boils down to the signal strengths.

The antenna used with this is One For All with 42dB signal gain. TV auto tunes and stores digital signals in a few minutes. It also tries tuning any analogue signal available - none here.

It works well with Sony BDPS370 Blu-ray Player. Any one of the remotes controls major functions of both the player and the TV through the `bravia link'. But when it comes to dedicated functions, one needs to use the specific remote. I had to get the TV to recognise the Blu-ray player by navigating through the menu - the TV did not recognise it spontaneously. Once recognised, even after disconnecting the HDMI cable, the TV accepted the Blu-ray player upon re-connecting.

The top information bar that stays for a few seconds, gives a lot of information on he channel including availability of subtitles which can be chosen if required, in three different languages (English being one!) by pressing the button on the remote successively. Subtitle disappears after adjusting the volume, but will re-appear after touching the volume button once more.

The programme guide is like a book only - you can only see what programme comes up across the various channels. Had it had the facility to select a programme ahead so that it would switch automatically to view a pre-selected programme whilst watching another, I would have given Sony Bravia KDL22EX302U five stars.

As always, a lovely sleek TV from Sony. Set up very easy in minutes and good quality picture and sound. On screen menu to explain all the features and functions-very pleased with it mounted on a bedroom wall.
